I’ve been on countless fast-food adventures, but somehow I missed out on the wonders of Arby’s, the fast-food chain that proudly declares that it “has the meats.” So, armed with curiosity and an appetite, my mom and I embarked on a journey to our local Arby’s in Long Island, New York. Little did we know that we were about to uncover our new favorite spot.

As we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by a Western-themed interior that seemed oddly appropriate for a place founded in Ohio. The longhorn statue outside, the 10-gallon hat in the logo, and the Western art scattered throughout the dining area all contributed to the unique ambiance. It felt like we were stepping into a fast-food saloon.

To our surprise, the restaurant was empty, a blank canvas waiting to be filled with the tantalizing aromas of Arby’s culinary creations. We opted to sit outside on that perfectly sunny day, but we couldn’t help but admire the clean and comfortable booths and tables inside. It was a fast-food joint with a touch of finesse.

After placing our order, I was struck by the impressive array of sauces available. As a devoted sauce enthusiast, I often find myself awkwardly requesting extra at other fast-food establishments. But not at Arby’s! Here, the sauces were generously provided for self-service. I gleefully grabbed a cup of every sauce available, feeling like a kid in a candy store.

Now, let’s set the stage for the main event – our meal. Drumroll, please. On the menu: medium curly fries, a four-piece order of mozzarella sticks, the Classic Roast Beef sandwich, the Smokehouse Brisket sandwich, the Classic Crispy Sandwich, a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup cookie, and two small sodas. Excitement filled the air as we anticipated the flavors that awaited us.

The Smokehouse Brisket sandwich arrived first, and it was a sight to behold. Packed with 13-hour smoked brisket, cheddar cheese, crispy onion strings, and barbecue sauce, it was a masterpiece that barely contained its meaty contents. One bite, and I was transported to BBQ heaven. The tender brisket melted in my mouth, and the combination of flavors was sheer perfection. It was as if Arby’s had summoned the spirit of a fancy BBQ joint just for this sandwich.

Next up was the Classic Crispy Chicken sandwich. Despite it being mislabeled, it didn’t dampen our spirits. The hefty piece of crispy chicken, accompanied by fresh lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise, was surprisingly delightful. Gone were the fears of undercooked chicken as I savored every crispy bite. Add a dollop of Horsey Sauce, the mayo-based horseradish sauce known to pack a punch, and I was in fast-food bliss.

However, not every sandwich can be a superstar. The Classic Roast Beef, the very sandwich that put Arby’s on the map, left me underwhelmed. It was a dry affair that cried out for some flavor. Arby’s Sauce came to the rescue, lending a much-needed boost. Lesson learned: next time, I’ll opt for the Classic Beef ’N Cheddar for a more flavorful experience.

Let’s not forget the scrumptious sides that accompanied our main course. The curly fries were a revelation. With their perfectly spiraled shape and crispy texture, they were a testament to the art of fast-food fries. Dip them in various sauces, and you’ve got yourself a party in your mouth.

We also tried the mozzarella sticks, which were good but not extraordinary. They could easily be mistaken for any other mozzarella sticks served at a chain restaurant. While crispy on the outside, the cheese inside lacked that gooey, stretchy factor that we crave. They didn’t make it onto our “must-order” list.

Finally, we reached dessert – a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup cookie. Splitting it in half, we indulged in every chocolatey, peanut buttery bite. The cookie had a satisfyingly gooey texture, enhanced by the melted deliciousness of Reese’s peanut butter cups. It was the sweet ending we needed after our delightful Arby’s adventure.

As we left the restaurant, our stomachs full and our taste buds satisfied, we noticed a bell near the exit. Intrigued, we approached it, unaware of the controversy it held. According to Arby’s corporate account on X, formerly known as Twitter, the bell is meant to be rung for great service. However, we decided not to risk the ire of the employees and simply thanked our cashier instead.

Reflecting on our $38 feast, we couldn’t help but appreciate the tremendous value for money. A meal of such quality and quantity would easily cost us double, if not triple, at a sit-down restaurant in New York City. Arby’s had won us over, and we pledged to return and conquer more of its expansive menu. But next time, we’ll make sure to leave room for a legendary Jamocha Shake.

Arby’s, with its mouthwatering meats and unique charm, had gained two enthusiastic fans that day. Our tasty adventure had left us craving more, eagerly awaiting our next visit to the Wild West of fast-food dining. Arby’s had truly delivered on its promise, proving that it had the meats, the flavors, and the power to captivate even the most seasoned fast-food adventurers.

So, join us in the glorious land of Arby’s. Discover the wonders of their burgers, gyros, Reubens, fish strips, hush-puppies, and more. Trust us, the journey is worth it. Arby’s: where every bite is an adventure, and your taste buds will thank you.
